AWS Migration for Australia

Move to AWS Australia without the drama.

HAZERCLOUD migrates Australian businesses onto AWS, on the Sydney and Melbourne regions, with a rehearsed cutover and a rollback point so nothing goes live on hope. We are an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner and ISO 27001:2022 certified, and we handle APRA-regulated workloads to the same standard we are audited against ourselves. Delivered remotely from India with Australian-workday overlap.

Where Your Workloads Land

The two AWS regions inside Australia.

Data residency is usually the first question an Australian board asks. Both regions keep your data in-country. Which one is right depends on your workload, not on habit.

01 · SYDNEY

ap-southeast-2, the default

The oldest and deepest AWS region in Australia, live since 2012. Almost every AWS service is available here, usually on or near global launch, and three Availability Zones make Multi-AZ the norm. For most Australian workloads this is where your primary environment belongs.

3 AZsFull catalogueLowest latency
02 · MELBOURNE

ap-southeast-4, the second site

Opened in 2023, Melbourne is a strong disaster-recovery region and a fit for Victorian workloads that want in-state residency. We commonly pair it with Sydney for cross-region failover rather than treating it as a standalone primary.

03 · RESIDENCY

Data stays in Australia

We use service control policies to block resource creation outside your approved regions, encrypt at rest and in transit, and keep logging that shows where data actually lives. If your obligations require in-country residency, the architecture proves it rather than assuming it. Full region detail is on our AWS regions in Australia guide.

Regulated Migrations

APRA workloads move differently.

Migrating a regulated workload is not the same job as lifting a marketing site. The controls and the evidence trail are the point, and they are where a generalist migration usually falls short.

What we bring

CPS 230 operational resilience, built in

  • Staged cutover. Traffic moves in controlled steps with a tested rollback at each one, not a single big-bang switch.
  • Control mapping. Each migration decision tagged to the CPS 230 and CPS 234 control it satisfies, so your auditor can follow it.
  • Evidence pack. The cutover plan, the rollback test, and the resulting architecture, documented as you go rather than reconstructed later.
  • Audited ourselves. HAZERCLOUD is ISO 27001:2022 certified, so we build to a standard we are assessed against.
Proof, not a promise

An Adelaide engagement, on the record

  • Real client. We completed AWS cost optimization and database modernization for an Adelaide company.
  • Public review. They left a five-star review on Clutch across quality, schedule, cost and willingness to refer.
  • Written up. The engagement is documented in our Windows workloads case study, within the scope of that review.
  • No inflation. We reference only what that client actually engaged us for, and nothing more.
If you are migrating an APRA-regulated workload to AWS, start on our APRA CPS 230 on AWS page, then bring the specifics to a scoping call. We would rather tell you honestly where the hard parts are than discover them at cutover.
Migration Paths

Proven routes onto AWS Australia.

The source platform changes the plan, not whether it can be done. These are the routes we run most, each with a rehearsed cutover and a rollback point.

Heroku → AWS

Leave the Heroku bill behind

Dynos become ECS or Fargate tasks, Heroku Postgres becomes RDS or Aurora, and git-push deploys become CI/CD pipelines your team can inspect. We have run this in production with zero-downtime cutover.

Heroku to AWS ECS
DigitalOcean → AWS

Trade the Droplet for a managed platform

Droplets and managed databases move to EC2, ECS and RDS, with the cluster-management burden removed. Same workloads, less to babysit, and a cost profile we model before you commit.

DigitalOcean to AWS
On-prem → AWS

Retire the server room

Self-managed and on-premises workloads move onto AWS Australia with a dependency map, a target architecture, and a staged cutover. Right-sizing and Savings Plans keep the running cost honest afterwards.

Delivery & Funding

How the engagement actually runs.

Honest about where we are and how we work, because that is what an Australian buyer is really asking.

COVERAGE

Every capital, remotely

We serve Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide the same way: remote delivery with Australian-workday overlap, roughly 11:00 to 16:00 AEST for live calls, and 24/7 on-call cover through CloudOps for cutovers and incidents. We do not claim a local office, because we do not run one.

FUNDING

MAP, if you qualify

The AWS Migration Acceleration Program can co-fund qualifying migrations. We are MAP-eligible as an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner and scope the request during the assessment. Whether your workload qualifies is AWS’s call, and we tell you early and free if we think it does not.

PRICING

Numbers on the first call

Simple single-application migrations typically land in the $1,000 to $3,000 range; multi-application and compliance-heavy programs are scoped per workload. We share full pricing before any commitment, with no gated discovery and no open-ended hourly meter.

Common Questions

AWS migration in Australia, answered.

If your question is not here, ask it on the call. We would rather scope honestly than win the work and disappoint you at cutover.

Which AWS region should Australian companies choose?+
For most Australian workloads, ap-southeast-2 (Sydney). It launched in 2012 and has the deepest AWS service catalogue in the country, so almost everything you need is available locally. ap-southeast-4 (Melbourne) opened in 2023 and is a strong second site for disaster recovery or for Victorian government-adjacent workloads that want in-state residency. We map your services against each region before recommending one, rather than defaulting to Sydney out of habit.
Can you handle APRA-regulated migrations?+
Yes. APRA CPS 230 operational resilience and CPS 234 information security shape how a regulated workload should be migrated: staged cutover, tested rollback, documented control mapping, and evidence an auditor can follow. That is the differentiator most generalist migration shops do not carry. Our ISO 27001:2022 certification underpins the same controls. See our APRA CPS 230 page for how we structure regulated AWS environments.
Do you work with Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth companies?+
Yes. Delivery is remote, so a company in Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth gets the same team and the same process as one in Sydney. We have already delivered AWS cost optimization and database modernization for an Adelaide client, who left a five-star review on Clutch. What we do not do is claim a local office in any of these cities, because we do not have one.
How do time zones work with an India-based team?+
The Australian business day overlaps our core hours in the late morning and afternoon, roughly 11:00 to 16:00 AEST, which is when standups, migration reviews and change windows are scheduled. For anything time-critical during a cutover or an incident, 24/7 on-call cover is available through our CloudOps service. The overlap is materially better than a US-based partner and does not depend on anyone working through the night.
What does an AWS migration cost?+
It depends on scope, and we share full pricing on the first call rather than hiding behind "it depends". As an honest guide, simple single-application migrations typically land in the $1,000 to $3,000 range; multi-application and compliance-heavy programs are scoped per workload. Most teams start with one migration or a cost-optimization audit, see the result, then decide whether to continue. There is no gated discovery and no open-ended hourly meter.
How does AWS MAP funding work for Australian migrations?+
The AWS Migration Acceleration Program lets AWS co-fund qualifying migrations through credits and partner-delivery funding. HAZERCLOUD is MAP-eligible as an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner, and we scope the funding request as part of the assessment. Whether a specific workload qualifies is AWS’s decision and depends on the size and shape of the migration, so we tell you early, on the first call and free, if we think it does not.
Can you migrate from Heroku, DigitalOcean or on-premises?+
Yes, those are our most common starting points. We have completed production migrations from Heroku to AWS ECS and from DigitalOcean to AWS with zero-downtime cutover, and we migrate on-premises and self-managed workloads onto AWS Australia the same way: assessment, target architecture, rehearsed cutover with a rollback point, then handover. The source platform changes the plan, not whether it can be done.
