Ubuntu is not a Linux Distribution anymore !!!
Yes, Its the reality. Canonical Just removed the word “Linux” from their website. Now Ubuntu is an entirely different OS not just a linux distro.
I was going through the usual weekend Googling. Just found somewhere that the canonical removed the work “Linux” from their website !!! . Interesting, Had a google search to confirm this. [linux site:ubuntu.com](http://www.google.com/search?q=linux site:ubuntu.com) Yes Its true !!
Hm… Now. why they removed Linux ? Also why Google is not mentioning “Linux” in their websites since the base of their Chrome OS and Mobile Android OS is Linux.
Lets check it out .
## What you mean by the word LINUX.
**If you are a linux user or a techie** – You will think about a Stable, Secure, Open Source, Virus Free, Free to use OS which is available for free. Also, You will also think about the Father of linux, Linus Torvalds, Tux penguin etc etc…
**Windows Users (Those who thinks there is only one OS its Windows) **: When they hear the word Linux they think, Its an **ugly complicated OS** that can only be used by a Techie, who knows command line tools Like me (Kidding :D) etc.
Lets Go to Android and Chrome OS, The Google’s Products.
**Android and Chrome OS** : Both the products are highly successful so far. And the funniest thing is more than 75% of the android and chrome OS users don’t know that its based on Linux. Yea, They only knows it as Google released some new OS for mobile and Laptop users respectively. The end users of android or Chrome OS will never think about the earlier mentioned comments about linux (techie command line etc) when they uses it.
It seems the Canonical is going to apply the same Marketing strategy for the Ubuntu OS as well. Yes, As a Normal / Windows User,
1. Woo Ubuntu is not Linux Anymore!!! So if i use Ubuntu, Im not using Linux !!! 
2. Microsoft or Apple recently said Linux is useless !!, Well its not applied to Ubuntu since its not Linux anymore 
3. Im using Ubuntu OS, not the complicated Techie Linux OS what i know.
From My point of view, Google and Canonical is doing a good thing. Yes, They are helping the Linux Community to grow and can simply take the advantage of the above mentioned thoughts of the windows users and also they will welcome these Operating Systems as a brand new OS.
Also the daily Lies of Microsoft will make no effect on these OS users.
